Holland

A nice story over at The Hockey News on Ken Holland, General Manager of the Wings. Written by Ken Campbell, it talks about the Hossa signing and how he may stay longer than the one year deal he signed. The link: http://www.thehockeynews.com/

We just love him in Detroit. With 11 years as GM, 25 total in Detroit; the Red Wings have won more games than any other franchise in the NHL. During his tenure as GM, the Red Wings have won 502 games; earning an NHL best 439 regular-season victories and the second-most playoff wins, 63. I remember the first time one of his deals shocked the city. In ‘99, at the trade deadline; Detroit had acquired Chris Chelios, Ulf Samuelsson, Wendel Clark and Bill Ranford. Chelios! The player you loved to hate when he was the opposition, now we love him and10 years later; the oldest player in the league and still contributing. Most of the players he got fit in and contributed to helping the Wings win. When all is said and done, Ken Holland will go down as one of the best GM’s in hockey history.
