Well, the Wings got a good one here. Another somewhat strange deal as he could have got a lot more money elsewhere. His thoughts being, I want to win a Cup and Detroit gives him the best chance to do so. I think it’s a good fit as another goal scorer is always welcome. Detroit has enough talent that he doesn’t have to try to be the top player. Sure his numbers might drop, but I think he’ll score plenty with either Datsyuk or Zetterberg alongside. I couldn’t believe some of the stories ripping him for signing with Detroit for less money. Sometimes, it isn’t about the money; but about winning and Detroit has to be considered a favorite again. There is a lot of resentment around the league about The Wings and how before the cap they threw money around to ‘buy’ the Cup. And now with the new CBA, they still win; and still sign great players. Except for Jersey, the last ten years; no other team is even close to the number of Cups they’ve won. So I say, Go Wings and win another one.
Yes, I’m a Wing fan first; but still enjoy good players and good games. So I’ll be talking about other teams and players also. Just not enough time in the day to get it all in.
